Health & Safety Policy

Morris Vermaport Ltd and its wholly owned subsidiary Scarborough Lifts Ltd are Specialist Lift Suppliers in the UK for Passenger Lifts, Including the Energy Efficient Ecocell Evacuation Lifts, Platform and Goods Lifts.

The company recognises its statutory obligations to maintain standards of safety at all locations, which will protect its employees in every respect of their work in relations to plant, equipment and workplaces and for continuously maintaining an initiative to ensure that these obligations are fulfilled within the resources of management and the law. We are committed to the prevention of injury and ill health, continual improvement and compliance with all applicable legal and other requirements and with the requirements of OHSAS 18001.

The scope of the Safety Management System is as follows: Design, installation, procurement, modernisation, supply, service and repair of passenger lifts, goods / passenger lifts, services lifts, vertical and inclined platform lifts specially designed for use by disabled persons. All incorporating either traction or hydraulic drive systems. Supply, commissioning and servicing of goods only conveyor systems.

1.     The Company is committed to, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety, welfare, protection and also the prevention of injury and ill health of all its employees including other persons likely to be affected by its operations.

2.     The Company’s continued improvement in OH&S Management and OH&S performance.

3.     To comply with all applicable legal requirements and any other requirements to which the company subscribes that relate to its OH&S hazards.

4.     To provide the framework for setting and reviewing OH&S objectives at regular intervals, see 8 below.

5.     To ensure all aspects of OH&S are documented, implemented and maintained. 

6.     To ensure that all employees are made aware of the company’s OH&S commitment by displaying this policy on notice boards and informing them of their responsibilities for OH&S through briefings, toolbox talks and other means.

7.     To make this policy available for all interested parties via the company’s web site and any other means necessary.

8.     The policy will be reviewed periodically and at least annually by top management to ensure that it remains relevant and appropriate to the organisation.

 

Any employee who does not observe the statutory and Company rules for safety will be subjected to disciplinary action under his / her terms and conditions of employment. All Health and Safety matters should be brought immediately to the attention of a supervisor or member of management

Environmental Policy

Morris Vermaport Ltd and its wholly owned subsidiary Scarborough Lifts Ltd is committed to providing a quality service in a manner that ensures a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and minimises our potential impact on the environment. We will operate in compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and we will use pollution prevention and environmental best practices in all we do. The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for the Environmental Management System.

 

The scope of the Environment management system is as follows: Design, installation, procurement, modernisation, supply, service and repair of passenger lifts, goods / passenger lifts, services lifts, vertical and inclined platform lifts specially designed for use by disabled persons. All incorporating either traction or hydraulic drive systems. Supply, commissioning and servicing of goods only conveyor systems.

We will:-

  • Integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into all of our decision making and activities.

  • Promote environmental awareness among our employees and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner.
     

  • Train, educate and inform our employees about environmental issues that may affect their work.
     

  • Reduce waste through re-use and recycling and by purchasing recycled, recyclable or re-furbished products and materials where these alternatives are available, economical and suitable.
     

  • Promote efficient use of materials and resources throughout our facility including water, electricity, raw materials and other resources, particularly those that are non-renewable.
     

  • Carry out a periodic check on waste notes (at least biannually) to ensure a zero discrepancy
     

  • Avoid unnecessary use of hazardous materials and products, seek substitutions when feasible, and take all reasonable steps to protect human health and the environment when such materials must be used, stored and disposed of.

  • Purchase and use environmentally responsible products accordingly.

  • Where required by legislation or where significant health, safety or environmental hazards exist, develop and maintain appropriate emergency and spill response programmes.
     

  • Communicate our environmental commitment to clients, customers and the public and encourage them to support it.
     

  • Strive to continually improve our environmental performance and minimise the social impact and damage of activities by periodically reviewing our environmental policy, objectives and targets in light of our current and planned future activities.


Quality Policy

Morris Vermaport Ltd and its wholly owned subsidiary Scarborough Lifts Ltd is dedicated to providing all clients with services which conform in all respects to their requirements and the company operates a management system which complies with the requirements of ISO 9001 and continual improvement. 


The scope of the Quality Management System is as follows: Design, installation, procurement, modernisation, supply, service and repair of passenger lifts, goods / passenger lifts, services lifts, vertical and inclined platform lifts specially designed for use by disabled persons. All incorporating either traction or hydraulic drive systems. Supply, commissioning and servicing of goods only conveyor systems.


It is the stated intention of the company to apply systems and procedures to the management of its business with the following quality objectives:


  • To maintain an effective Quality Assurance System complying with the International Standard ISO9001 (Quality Systems) through our continued certification. 

  • To achieve a 10% sales growth year on year.

  • Maintain our servicing schedule for all engineers at 100%.

  • To ensure that all call outs are achieved within the required timescales.

  • Ensure that all projects are completed, tested and placed into service within the required timescale.

  • To achieve and maintain a level of quality which enhances the Company's reputation with customers.

  • To ensure continued compliance with relevant legislation and statutory requirements.

  • To endeavour, at all times, to maximize customer satisfaction with the services provided by Morris Vermaport Group at a rate of at least 95% (based on customer surveys).

This policy will be reviewed periodically (at least annually) in order to ensure that it remains effective and relevant to the company’s activities.
